What about the food during the trip with Trans-Siberian Railway?
While travelling with Trans-Siberian Railway, especially when it`s a few days-long trip... you have to eat something. You know, a hungry tourist is an angry tourist. How to solve the problem of alimentation in the Trans-Siberian Railway? There are some things that can be done.

1. Food supplies - packed lunch.
Right before the beginning of the journey, it`s good to stock up some food supplies. Each wagon is equipped with a samovar of boiling water - really hot boiling water. Therefore, you can base your supplies on Cups O`Noodles, instant soups or popular lyophilizes, a freeze-dried food. Customarily, on railway stations in Russia you can buy almost ready "dry" dishes. Flooded with boiling water, they remain to be a great replacement for regular meals. Anyway, instatnt soups or sandwiches, it`s important to always be prepared.

2. The Babushka Ladies.
The so-called Babushkas are wonderful old ladies who sell ready-made lunch dishes. During stopovers on particular stations, they come to the wagons and sell fresh and tasty meals. The dishes are very various, all depending on the region and traditions. When there`s no certanity whether the lady is trustworthy or not, the conductresses are always willing to give some tips. The meals usually contain potatoes, cutlet, fish, there are also dumplings, all served on a single plate, wrapped in foil, hot and delicious. Sometimes there`s also single-use cutlery. Most of the grannies are just poor pensioners, this is their way to make some more money and, as a result, they care about the customers a lot.

3. Stations.
At some major stations, the stop-offs can last from 15 to 50 minutes. That`s the time when passangers can leave the wagons and do some groceries in the small shops on the platform. The shops are usually well equipped, sometimes there are even hot meals available. However, make sure that your train... doesn`t leave when you`re away! During longer stops, the trains are oftenly being moved to different platforms, the wagons are being connected, disconnected, etc. It`s always safe to ask Prowadnica, before you leave and don`t see your train ever again. ;)

The trains usually have a restaurant, or, if more preferable, a bar wagon. The wagon enables buying ready meals, snacks, drinks, coffee, tea, lunch and so much more. It`s kinda expensive but when there`s no other way... it works just fine.

5. Prawadnica.
Resourceful conductresses, guardians of the wagons, protectors of the wild Siberian routes and... smugglers. Well, not literally. Sometimes they sell stuff officially, sometimes they don`t. The point is, you can get some good snacks, if you`re wise enough.

6. LUX and KUPE wagons.
Depending on the type of train, in these wagons there`s possibility of ordering tea and full breakfast or dinner, usually included in ticket price. It`s sort of a combination between a resaurant wagon service and delivery. ;) The prices are very various, but it`s rather an amusement for the wealthy travellers.

7.Requested meals.
The issue of meals in the Trans-Siberian Railway has always been a bit problematic and that`s why the Railway decided to reach out to the tourists. Since recently, along with buying tickets, there`s a posibility of... purchasing meals among the entire journey. Meals and variants of serving them are extremly varied, ranging from vegetarian variant, through kosher (Jewish), meats, meatless dishes (fish), to the variant for children or Muslim Halal. Some delicious stuff for everyone. This solution is both practical and intresting, and most importatly, it`s a guarantee that there will be no human causalties caused by hunger. ;)
